2026 Awareness Month Event
“Honoring Strength. Extending Hope. Changing Lives.”
Dear Supporter,
Each day, families across our community face the physical, emotional, and financial challenges of sickle cell disease. For many, it is not just a diagnosis—it is a lifelong battle that impacts education, employment, stability, and overall quality of life.
The HWJ Sickle Foundation, founded in honor of Herman White Jr.—a living testimony of resilience at 76 years old despite being told he would not live past 20—is committed to standing in that gap. Through advocacy, support, and tangible resources, we aim to bring hope where it is needed most.
Our 2026 Goal: Raise $15,000
This year, we are working to raise $15,000 to directly impact individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease through:
• Scholarships for students living with sickle cell, empowering them to pursue education despite the challenges they face
• Family Support Assistance, helping cover essential needs such as medical-related expenses, transportation, and basic living necessities during times of crisis
• Resource Outreach, ensuring families are connected to the care, education, and support systems they deserve
In addition, September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month, and we are preparing a community-wide awareness drive to educate, engage, and mobilize support. This initiative will include outreach events, informational campaigns, and opportunities for the community to stand in solidarity with those impacted.
We Need Your Support
We cannot do this work alone. Your partnership—whether through financial contributions, sponsorship, in-kind donations, or volunteering—plays a vital role in helping us meet our goal and expand our reach.
Every dollar given is more than a donation—it is relief for a family, opportunity for a student, and hope for a future that too often feels uncertain.
We invite you to join us in this mission. Together, we can bring awareness, provide resources, and create lasting impact for those living with sickle cell disease.
To contribute or learn more about how you can support the HWJ Sickle Foundation, please contact us directly or follow our upcoming announcements for our September Awareness Campaign.
